Juggling Tutorials

4 Ball Foutian

This is the way that you juggle four balls. You will find this very different to juggling 3 balls because, unlike a cascade, the balls don't cross. Although it isn't the natural progression from 3 balls it is a good trick to learn and can look impressive. It is much easier to learn than five ball juggling so if you are looking to move away from the 3 ball cascade its a good place to start. If you are trying to learn 4 ball juggling because evreyone is asking if you can do 4 when you show them 3 learning it is a bad idea, they will only ask you to perform 5 which is even harder

Before you try to learn 4 ball juggling you should be confident in 2 in one hand for both hands. You should also try juggling collums as they are a natural stepping stone to 4 ball juggling and is in effect 4 ball juggling with one of the balls missing.

How To

Take 2 ball in one hand and practise 2 in one hand, to do this throw the balls up on the inside and catch them on the out side (for more on 2 in one hand see that tutorial). You should be abel to do this confidently in both hands.

Next take one ball in each hand, practise throwing them up together, parallel, to eye level and then catching them again in the same hand. You want to make each throw and catch at the same time. If you get stuck later on you should come back to this point to reinforce this skill as this is the basis of 4 ball juggling

Now take 2 in each hand, so you've got your 4 balls. Throw one from each hand straight up at the same time (don't cross the balls) just after these balls have peaked throw the third and fourth balls. Make your throws on the inside so the balls travel across you body to the outside. The 2 sets of balls should now be moving in egg shaped ellipses in front of you.

The main problems that people find is that they are throwing the balls forward or to different heights. Most of these problems can be solved by going back to step to and practising throwing 2 balls at the same time to eye level. The only way to perfect this trick is through practise.
