Juggling: over the top
The Technique
Over the top is an easy trick to perform once you have mastered it in both hands and can be used to create many diffrent effects such as tennis, half shower and shower(reverse cascade). Whilst juggling with three balls throw one ball in a wide arc over the top of your normal juggling window, so that it literally goes "over the top", make both the throw and the catch from slightly further out than you would for a normal throw. Practise this in both hands untill you are comfotable. You may find that the ball hits others on its way up, if this is the case throw it from further out so that it passes outside the normall juggling window.
Tricks with over the top
Jugglers TennisIn this simple trick one ball is repeatedly thrown over the top so that it appears as a tennis ball going back and forth over the net. To do this trick, whilst juggling normally, throw one ball over the top when that ball is next thrown throw it over the top again and repeat this. This trick often looks more effective if the tennising ball is of a different colour. Also make the throws with the two balls in the middle slightly smaller so the effect can be seen more clearly
Half ShowerIn this trick the balls appear to be going round in a circle, like they are in kids cartoons, or in a bomerang shape depending on the way you perform it. To do this trick evrey throw from one of you hands will be over the top and evrey throw from the other hand is a normal throw. If the inside scoops (normal throws) are small and flat the balls will appear to be going in a circle, if they are made larger they will follow a bonerang shape, both look verey effective
Shower (or reverse cascade)In this trick evrey throw is over the top, this makes the juggling appear to go backwards. Unlike normall juggling where throws are done from the inside and catches are on the outside thie catches on the inside and throws on the outside
